Hi friends!

In this episode of the podcast, Neil concludes with the two part series on Lamentations. I am encouraged by the practice of sitting with the Divine Presence, the Holy Spirit in the midst of lament and questions. It is a difficult place to be, but we are not alone, and even the edges of grief are safe in the presence of God.

The meditation starts at 03:31, if you’d like to jump right to it.

Neil is guiding a Lectio Divina on Lamentations 3: 25-33 with Neil.

Season 2, Episode 1 - Lectio Divina on Lamentations 3: 1-3, 18-24

Shekina meditation podcast Season 2 ep 1.png

Hi friends,

Welcome to Season 2 of the podcast!

After a pretty long hiatus, we are starting Season 2 of the podcast, focusing on sustainability and serving by offering episodes that give space for connection with God.

Not much is changing except that we’ll be doing shorter introductions, with occasional podcast episodes that are just times to catch up on what and how we are doing around here.

I also have ideas of episodes that are simple readings of scripture or prayers. Let’s see what comes up!

The meditation starts at 03:55, if you’d like to jump right to it. This week it’s a Lectio Divina on Lamentations 3: 1-3, 18-24 with Neil.

Here’s the podcast on iTunes.

We've been on hiatus, but we're starting again soon with Season 2 of the podcast.

Hi dear friends,

Thanks so much for your patience as the podcast has been on an unannounced hiatus. As some (but not all) of you know, we have spent time recently helping some of our community members (Brendan and Leaf, dear, dear, important, essential community members) transition back to their home country. Even the words home country feel strange. Country of citizenship, we might say.

The move was unexpected, health-related, and very sad. We all did our best to smother the situation in love, and we are grieving, especially since many people who usually help with our community in Pai, long term and short term, cannot come back into Thailand at this time.

Thus, a hiatus in the podcast. And in this time, I have been dreaming up new things, envisioning how to best serve and encourage through this medium.

So, we will be launching Season 2 of the Shekina Meditation Podcast! Look for it soon. :)

See you then,

love,

Rae

Episode #84 - From the Archives- Meditation on the Jesus Prayer with Rae

SHEKINAMEDITATIONPODCAST#84.png

Hi friends,

Today’s episode is from the archives, a meditation on the Jesus Prayer. I still remember how this prayer changed my life when I began to pray it, simply because it was one of the ways I first let meditation shape my days, as I prayed it while driving, or waiting, or other times I would normally be worrying.

Here the show notes from the episode, which was first published on July 1, 2019:

* Chinua and I chat about our week, including working with wood, music, singing, and a blessing way.

* I (Rae) guide a meditation on the Jesus Prayer

(If you want to skip to this, it’s at 07:26, but don’t skip the intro because you’ll miss some good and deep thoughts.)

Here’s the podcast on iTunes.

Here’s the episode on Youtube.

This week may you have joy, and I have joy, and all of us have deep, deep joy.

Much love,

I don’t have a meditation to post this week, friends, but I wanted to write to tell a little bit of goodness. During the years we have met many people around the world who love our town in the hills of Northern Thailand. Now, during COVID times, we are trying to adjust to what is happening, and help where we can. We have started to bring packets of groceries for a little extra help out to villages around our valley.

As I started posting about this, friends who have come through Shekina Garden began to send money. People from all areas of the world have been contributing to help in this way.

I am thankful for this small opportunity to help. I am thankful for the way people who love Pai are giving, even during a hard time. And I am thankful for the love and trust that God has helped us to build over these years.

This past weekend we were able to make our fourth trip out to a village in the valley. It was fun and wild and rewarding.

What an honor.

Love to you,

back next week with another podcast episode,

Rae

Episode # 81- A Short Lectio Divina on Psalm 23 with Naomi

SHEKINAMEDITATIONPODCAST#81.png

Hi friends,

All around, everything is green. The week has been a rainy one, sprinkled with quiet meditation, trying to come to terms with our current uncertain situation, and, for Chinua and I, the loss of a dear friend.

I find that all I really want right now is to be faithful to hear and see. To be reverent and sensitive to the Spirit, as the Message paraphrases Philippians 2. It seems the only way to walk forward right now.

Here’s what to expect in this episode of the podcast:

* Ro and I give a little intro on our week, including gardening, a labyrinth meditation, and a Jesus Storybook Bible circle.

* Naomi guides a lectio divina meditation on Psalm 23. (All the way from Australia.) (If you want to skip to the meditation it’s at 07:43.)

Episode #80- From the Archives- Meditation on Light with Rae

SHEKINAMEDITATIONPODCAST#80.png

Hi friends,

Due to technical difficulties, I’m reaching into the archives for the first time today. Enjoy!

From July 2019:

Here’s what to expect in this episode of the podcast:

* Ro and I talk about the week we’ve just had, including coming home, my new book, singing, and   butterflies.

* I guide a lectio divina on Light with a short introductory imagination meditation on moving around in the dark.

I used a collection of verses from different translations:

Psalm 119: 105

Matthew 4:16

John 1:5

John 8: 12

Ephesians 5: 13 and 14

Ro mentioned that she thinks this meditation is an excellent one for people who are new to meditation, so if know anyone like that, or you are new, feel free to share!

(If you want to skip to the meditation, it’s at 08:03 but don’t skip the intro because it’s a bit like a rare butterfly

Episode #75- A Short Lectio Divina on Jeremiah 17: 7-8

SHEKINAMEDITATIONPODCAST#75.png

Hi, beloved ones,

My heart hurts for the world and for the U.S. right now. There is so much sorrow and pain, erupting from years of injustice. I am thankful for those who are stepping up to speak out against racism and injustice. We should all be using our voices and praying for justice and for peace.

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

Ro and I were able to sit together this week after a labyrinth walk meditation and record an intro to the podcast. This labyrinth meditation at the garden since February, and we did it with social distancing and masks. A new reality, same garden, same Spirit, same Creator.

Here’s what to expect in this episode of the podcast:

* We talk about what’s been going on around here, including the little bits, step by step attitude we’ve been holding.

* We’re introducing some shorter meditations, and this is the first. Ro guides a Lectio Divina from Jeremiah 17: 7-8, and the whole thing is only about 20 minutes long.
